Here's a list of some of the meets we attend each year. (back to team page)
Note... no single runner is likely to attend all of the meets below, but everyone runs the dual meets.
Sept 4 (Sat) Vaquero Stampede at Lindo Lake in Lakeside (El Capitan HS)
Divisions are small and large school, F/S and J/S for boys and girls. J/S boys run 2.15, everyone
else runs 1.65 miles. Course is flat as a pancake.... it's run around a lake.
Sept 4 (Sat) Asics Cougar-Wildcat 6 Mi XC Relay CSSM
6 mile relays - with 4 x 1.5 miles splits boys, girls, jv, novice, open races- girls won last year
Sept 10 (Fri) Mustang/Phair Invite at Rohr Park (Otay Ranch HS)
Small/Large and Var/JV divisions 5k for varsity boys, 2.32 varsity girls/jv boys, 1.65 jv girls
Sept 11 (Sat) Bronco Round-up KC Park (Rancho Bernardo HS)
All races are 2 miles, large/small school divisions, varsity, F/S, JV, Novice events - meet full
Sept 18 (Sat) Sundevil at Morley Field (Mt. Carmel HS)
San Diego's biggest Invite, many out of town schools will be there,
two divisions large/small by grade.
CIF course -well ... sort of (different finish).. boys run around 2.95 miles, girls around 2.7 miles.
Sept 18 (Sat) Woodbridge Classic
Mt. Carmel is big but Woodbridge is huge! It's cooler too 'cause most of the races are run at night at 5k
We may split the team because I'm commited to Mt. Carmel (I time/score the meet).
Sept 24 (Fri) South Bay Invite at Rohr Park (Sweetwater HS)
Similar to Mustang, Var, F/S divisions no school size split. 5k and 2.5 boys/girls.
Sept 25 (Sat) Showdown at Sundown (Mission Hills HS)
A night meet under the lights... Varsity/JV heats, all races 5k
Oct 1 (Fri) Saints Small School Invite at Morley (Saint Augustine HS)
Just D-IV, V and small III .. CIF course ...Our CIF competition will be there. 3.07 boys 2.75 girls.
--->Dual meets are all at Morley field at 3 miles for both boys and girls
Oct 5th dual meet with Lincoln (generally weak but may have a runner or two from track)
Oct 12th dual meet with Christian (boys were 2009 league champs, girls ok but not our level )
Oct 16 (Sat) So. Cal. Invite at Guajome Parl (Vista HS)
Unusual format... #1 runner from each team is a race, twos another, etc. JV/Novice as well 5k for Varsity,
shorter for jv/novice.
Oct 19th dual meet with Clairemont (very strong girls and strong boys program )
Oct 22nd (Fri)... Mt. SAC (Mt. San Antonio College) Small division heats at Walnut California
Mt. Carmel is large, Woodbridge is huge, but Mt. SAC is one of the largest CC meets in the world.
Over a 3 week period they have divisions from middle school to open. Our window is the 22nd when the
CIF divisions 3,4 and 5 are run. The course is generally hot, dusty and always hilly. If you mention the
words "poop out," or "reservoir" to anyone who's run there they'll know what you mean (they're hills).
Oct 23 (Sat) Jaguar Invite at Kit Carson Park (Valley Center HS)
Lots of divisions by school size, grade, and ability.. boys run 5k, girls run 2.6 mi.
Oct 26th dual meet with Crawford (overall weak both boys and girls)
Nov 2nd dual meet with Madison (strong boys program, weak girls program )
Nov 9th Central League Finals (3 miles) also at Morley Field
This meet counts for 1/2 of league championship and breaks ties between teams.
The top 10 finishers are All-League. 15 medals are given (both boys and girls)
There are no JV races but everyone runs in the "varsity."
Nov 20th CIF Finals Qualifies us for state meet ... only top 7 run 3.07 boys 2.75 girls
Nov 27th State Meet at Fresno ... Top 3 teams out of CIF plus certain top individuals not on advancing teams qualify.
