The list is chronological and reflects many fine individual and team performances. Congratulations to the players, coaches and parents who earned these notable achievements.
Winter Sports 2004
The CHS winter varsity sports teams post a combined record of 85-36-7, with all five teams advancing to the CIF playoffs.
The Boys Basketball Team wins 20 games for the third consecutive year, a first for the program. The squad won their first round CIF Division IV playoff game against Imperial, before losing to Bishop’s in the semi-final. Brett Milke and Tony Moore were named Co-MVPs.
The Girls Basketball Team posted a 21-8 overall record, which included a 10-0 record in Harbor League play, propelling them to the conference title for the third straight year. Team MVP Alexis Castro, currently playing Division I basketball at the University of Vermont, leads her team to a first round playoff victory over Imperial, before losing in semi-finals to Bishop’s. Yes, both CHS basketball teams drew the same opponents in the CIF Playoffs.
In the high school story of the year, The Girls Soccer Team entered the CIF Division III playoffs with a No. 6 seed and proceeds to win CIF Division III title. In their playoff run they defeated the No. 11 seed Santana, No. 3 Our Lady of Peace, No. 2 Westview and No. 1 USDHS to earn the title. The title game was earned in overtime by the score of 2-1. Dayna Queisser was named Team MVP and CHS Head Coach Miles Ramirez was named CIF San Diego Section Women’s Soccer Coach of the year. The Islanders earned a 21-4-5 overall record.

Experiencing a rare losing season in 2004, The Girls Water Polo team has a 14-15 record but still progressed to the CIF Division II semi-final game, where they lose to Bishop’s 9-3. Elizabeth Hopkins was named Team MVP.
Spring Sports 2004
