Boys 4x800 Meter Relay 8:11.24

With the addition of Derick Ritter, the boys' 4x800 team knocked over 20 seconds off the 2025 record to become one of the top ten 4x800 teams in San Diego.

For most of the 2025 season we didn't run the 4x800 to concentrate on individual events.
However at the Division III finals, we put our best team together and dipped around 5 seconds under the old record from 2014.

In 2023 the CIF added the 4x800 meter relay to the event list to be run at league meets, the CIF championships, and the state meet. However, there was one record of Coronado running this event that was a bit faster than the time shown below. This is the team from that race:

Below is the best time since the event was added to the CIF event list.

Four Coronado Distance runners ran this event four times.
Their best time was at the league finals which they won with a time of 8:42.37.
They advanced to the Division 3 CIF finals where they placed 5th.

All that said, the true record may be 8:08
When the old Gym was torn down, the plaques from the old record board were saved.
The 4 x 880 (4 x half-mile) record back then was 8:08.? for the 4 x 880 yard (or 2-mile) relay.
However, until that can be confirmed, the newer records will be used.
